About me

I have been a full-time professional fine artist for thirty-five+ years. I am self-taught, and started my art career as a watercolorist in Houston, Texas, in the 70's. By the mid-eighties I was elected to the American Watercolor Society and awarded Dolphin Fellow. My watercolors, primarily desert landscapes, are in the collections of major corporations and were published by the New York Graphic Society and Joan Cawley editions.

On moving to New Mexico, I continued doing landscapes in watercolor and acrylic, and drawing the human figure, which I had begun back in Houston. My work evolved and I then explored many different means of artistic expression, including tinwork nichos with classical nudes, flower portraits, and monotypes. My paintings of the last 20 years are abstract, executed in acrylic. Ten years ago, I also began creating bronze sculptures of nudes, with 19 different editions now available.

The watercolor portrait thread of my artist practice began in 2003, when my first grandchild was a year old. I did a watercolor portrait of her as a Christmas gift for my daughter and son-in-law. More grandchildren arrived, and beautiful portraits followed, both family and friends. As many times before, the light bulb went on! The process and result were so satisfying to me, why not offer this opportunity to a larger group? My experiences painting commissions from contacts who found me on-line have been exceptional and encourage me to continue this aspect of my work.
